Professional-development opportunities and information, such as learning modules, presentations, and handouts, are available through the Thrive portfolio, as valuable resources and educational materials professionals, who work with families, can easily access and use. These resources are free and are immediately available for public consumption.
Stepfamilies are complicated and the Working with Stepfamilies: Understanding the Challenges presentation discusses some of the best practices for working with families such as these. When one family form ends and another one begins, family members need to adapt to and coordinate with each other. Grouping individuals together, who have potentially become accustomed to a different way or life or even a different family system or structure, can create unique challenges. This presentation discusses the unique challenges that exist in stepfamilies from multiple perspectives – the stepparent, the biological parent(s), and the children.
